We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our alternative provision program. As a Teacher in the alternative provision, you will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education settings. You will play a crucial role in helping students achieve their academic and personal goals, providing them with the necessary support and guidance to thrive.
There is a potential for this role to start ASAP, Monday to Thursday.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, innovative and inspirational lessons to students in accordance with the curriculum guidelines.
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the diverse needs of students, taking into consideration their individual abilities and backgrounds and SEND barriers.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and student well-being.
- Establish clear learning objectives and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to address challenging behaviours and promote positive attitudes towards learning.
- Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and external agencies to develop individualised learning plans and interventions for students with additional needs.
- Stay up-to-date with current educational practices and research, incorporating innovative teaching strategies and tools into the classroom.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievement, and behaviour, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and external professionals to ensure a holistic and collaborative approach to student support.
- Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant subject area. A postgraduate qualification in education would be advantageous.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
- Previous experience working with students in alternative provision, special education, or challenging behaviour settings is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of the curriculum requirements and ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the national standards.
- Strong understanding of different learning needs and strategies to support students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- Effective behaviour management skills and ability to establish rapport with students who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to cultivate positive relationships with various stakeholders.
- Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual student needs.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for creating positive educational experiences for all students.
