Outreach Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate teacher to join our Outreach team, to support the teaching and learning of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful teacher will support student learning, deliver tailored education to students facing barriers, provide individual support, and collaborate with families, schools, and other professionals to meet academic, social, and emotional needs. The role itself offers the chance to make a meaningful impact to students.

This role is on an adhoc basis with work available across Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30am and 4pm.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering one-on one tuition to students
  • Developing and implementing tailored learning programmes and support plans
  • Focus on student’s academic, social and emotional development, building self-esteem, resilience and social skills
  • Communicating effectively with parents and SLT
  • Contributing to development plans
  • Monitoring student needs, assess progress, and record achievements
  • Writing daily reports on student progress and development
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Managing student behavior using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.

You will need a calm, flexible and patient approach, with the ability to adapt to change and remain professional under pressure. Excellent communication is essential, as the role involves working closely with teachers, parents and external professionals to ensure students’ needs are met.

Experience working with SEN students is desirable, but we welcome applicants who are eager to learn and committed to inclusive education. This role suits someone who values teamwork, consistency and making a real difference every day.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or support role is advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of different learning styles and strategies to support students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to effectively manage behaviour and de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Proficiency in appropriate IT tools and technology used for educational purposes.

Empathy and Resilience

  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding towards students facing individual challenges.
  • Resilience to deal with difficult and potentially confrontational situations in a calm and composed manner.
  • Willingness to constantly adapt and learn in response to the students' evolving needs.

Organisation and Flexibility

  • Effective time-management skills to coordinate and prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing circumstances and unexpected challenges.

Safeguarding and Confidentiality

  • Strict adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and safety of students.
  • Respect for confidentiality when handling sensitive information related to students and families.
  • You will be required to hold an enhanced DBS
